Past Eats Part 1

Seeing as how my camera charger is currently MIA in the craziness that is my room, I bring to you the eats from my trip to California this past May. On May 12th, 2010, my sister and I set out on a week-long trip to San Diego, California.

Glee was the soundtrack to half of the flight.

Once we arrived in San Diego we were picked up by one our Aunts who live there. Her house is where we spent most of our time at. First however, we stopped for some lunch.

I’ve been to Ki’s restaurant in my previous trips to CA but this time I went for something different.

This sandwich was to die for. Filled to the brim with carrots, sprouts, avocado, cucumber and leafy greens. It was just the way I wanted to start off my trip. Going into this vacation, one of my goals was to try new foods, and a few old favorites.

One of the things I saw on my first day was my Aunt’s amazing garden that she had set up in part of her back yard. Already she had many fruits, veggies, flowers and herbs growing wild.

One of my goals when I am grown up and living on my own is I would love a pond, and a garden just like this.

A few days later I actually got to pull some of these beauty’s off the tree and use for drinks for a party.

One of the stops me and my sister C made was in Laguna Beach. We had both been there previously, so we knew a stop at Pomodoro. It is this amazingly good Italian restaurant in downtown LB. For Laguna fans, it has been seen on the show numerous times.

While C went for something different, I chose my favorite; the chicken parm. But for starters, we each had a bowl of soup.

My sister chose a pasta dish.

While my chicken was amazing just as I remembered. One of the things I love about this place is that you get such a big portion for not a lot of money. Surely enough to bring home for dinner, or lunch the next day.

For dessert we stopped by a bakery a few blocks away that had the most delicious looking treats from; chocolate/candy covered apples, cheesecakes, various cookies, and my favorite frozen chocolate covered bananas.

That was only two days in CA and all amazing eats. I leave you with a picture of what’s to come!

welcome to the world of food blogging!

Trying to figure out how to start off the first post in my new, shiny blog is much harder then I thought it would be. I guess I should start with who I am, and why I am here.

My name is Brittany and I am a twenty two year old from a suburb a throw stone away from Philadelphia. Twenty two..sorry it still amazes me when I say that, even if it’s been true for almost seven months. I work with animals, and even if waking up is hard some mornings it is something that I put a lot of my time, energy and love into.

While that covers the basics of me, now I move onto the why. Why am I bothering starting a blog, a blog that I am pretty sure will be seen by maybe one or two people? I am here because there are three things that I absoluetly love with out a doubt; Taylor Swift, Glee, and cooking. Not in that order exactly, but I think you get the point.

While I took cooking classes in High School, that is where my official learning ends. Over the years I have learned oh so much from the internet, cook books, my family and most importantly food blogs. There are two people specifically who helped make the decision to start this little nifty site; Elise, a very hungry hippie, and the fabulous snack facing diva that is Kailey.

I have been following their eats/lives for a while now and each and every time I do so I think to myself..I can do this. They encourage me daily and I am sure there are others out there who feel like they can do more in different aspects of their lives thanks to these two women.

Reading through Elise’s daily posts give me numerous things to want to try. I have her to thank for my obsession with Bragg’s Amino. Kailey on the other hand, makes me think that my wardrobe may need a bit of an update!

Thanks to Elise and Kailey I will take on this journey and hope that I can bring something to the few who will join me. If not, then I’ll knot that at least I am doing this for myself.

Will this be an everyday thing? I’m not sure yet. But I will be sure to bring to you my good eats {chicken pot pie = heaven} and the not so good eats {carrot cake fail}. I hope you enjoy the ride.
